In celebration of International Biophysics Week, the XTAL - Macromolecular Crystallography Lab from UCIBIO at NOVA FCT played an active role in a specialized outreach and discussion forum held at the Instituto Politécnico da Guarda on March 26.

The event’s centerpiece was the roundtable discussion, “Opportunities in Biophysics,” which brought together a diverse panel of experts to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application. Representing the Young Biophysicists Group of the Portuguese Biophysical Society, UCIBIO PhD student Carolina Videira joined the panel to share insights on the evolving landscape for early-career researchers.

The session fostered a rich dialogue among representatives from several prestigious institutions and organizations, including iBB, IST, Invitek Diagnostics, FMUL, and LAQV. Together, the participants explored the growing impact of biophysics across various research and innovation sectors, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving modern scientific challenges.

By engaging in these global initiatives, UCIBIO continues to strengthen its commitment to science communication and the professional development of its researchers, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the international scientific community.
