UCIBIO Researchers Named in World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists Ranking
Twenty-four researchers from UCIBIO have been included in the latest (2024) edition of the prestigious World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists ranking (Ioannidis, John P.A. 2025), developed by Stanford University in partnership with Elsevier, Scopus, and SciTech Strategies. This global ranking identified over 236,000 scientists whose work has demonstrated exceptional influence through citation impact. It covers two categories: the single-year citation impact, recognising the Top 2% of researchers whose recent scientific output has shown significant visibility, quality, and relevance; and the career-long impact category, honouring those whose sustained contributions have had a lasting impact, undoubtedly helping to shape their fields of expertise.
The following twenty-four researchers from UCIBIO (listed alphabetically) were recognized in one or both categories (Top 2% in the 2024 single-year citation impact category and/or the career-long impact category): Alexandra R. UCIBIO Scientists Featured in Research.com’s World's Best Scientists 2025
UCIBIO’s international recognition was further strengthened with seven researchers included in the World’s Best Scientists 2025 list, published by Research.com. This global ranking identifies the most influential scientists in each scientific disciplines, based on the Discipline H-index, which measures both productivity and citation impact within a specific field. Recognised by their work in chemistry were 3 UCIBIO scientists: Maria A.M. Reis, Maria de Lourdes Bastos, and Maria João Romão. Félix Carvalho, Luisa Peixe, Mário Diniz, Paula Guedes de Pinho, were recognised by their outstanding work in the fields of Medicine, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, and Biochemistry, respectively.
